Our geotechnical engineering typically begins with field exploration. We operate a fleet of drilling equipment, including truck-mounted rigs, all-terrain rigs, a trailer/skid mounted rig for special access situations, and a high-rail rig for drilling on railroad projects. We also have unique manual equipment and a propane rig for drilling in tight indoor conditions, at the bottom of test pits, or in other difficult access areas. In our testing laboratories, we have equipment to determine a wide range of geotechnical parameters, including soil shear strength, compressibility, and permeability. Our Geotechnical services include the following: Soil borings and geotechnical report preparation Diamond coring of bedrock Angle drilling and sampling Pressuremeter testing/analysis Electronic cone penetrometer testing/analysis Dynamic pile testing with the Pile Driving Analyzer (TM), model PAK SPT energy measurements Design of mechanically-stabilized earth structures (walls and slopes) Self-recording seismograph installation, monitoring and data interpretation Static load testing of deep foundations Geotechnical instrumentation, including inclinometers, Sondex (TM) settlement tubes, settlement plates, and pneumatic piezometers Analysis of special methods for preparation of marginal soils, including dynamic compaction, stone columns, vibro-compaction, Geopiers (TM), jet grouting, and lightweight fill, such as geofoam and shredded tires Slope stability analysis and design of slope protection Ground penetrating radar
